Vinitaly International donated signature wines from renowned Italian wineries to the 13th edition of Taste of Hope, American Cancer Society’s charity event. Guests at the fundraising event sampled Prosecco, Chianti Classico, Valpolicella and more while enjoying gourmet dishes prepared by outstanding American chefs and restaurateurs.
On May 10th, 2018, Vinitaly International celebrated a nine year collaboration with the American Cancer Society at “Taste of Hope”, one of New York’s most popular fundraising events. Held at the Metropolitan Pavilion in New York City, Taste of Hope is the signature culinary, wine and spirit tasting event organized by the American Cancer Society. Since its inception, the event has raised over $1.8 million to support the Society’s mission and goal of eliminating cancer as a major health problem.
The 2018 edition of Taste of Hope featured award-winning restaurateur, artisanal baker, and cookbook author Sarabeth Levine as its Culinary Honoree and Chef Antonio Prontelli, Executive Chef at Patina Restaurant Group’s Rockefeller Center Complex, as Survivor Honoree. The culinary creations showcased during the gala were paired also with Italian wines from leading producers thanks to Vinitaly International’s coordinating efforts.
During the past 9 years, Vinitaly International supported Taste of Hope through the donation of an impressive number of labels coming from top Italian wineries. This year, guests enjoyed a walk-around tasting sampling trademark dishes while sipping quality Italian wines kindly donated by several wineries willing to contribute to the fight against cancer. On their participation to the event, Carmen Stirn, Public Relations Officer at Sartori commented: “We believe it is important to spread awareness around major health issues like cancer. By donating some of our wines we want to support such issues and highlight the importance of events like Taste of Hope in the battle against cancer.”
For over 100 years, the American Cancer Society has worked relentlessly to save lives and create a world with less cancer. Every year Taste of Hope welcomes around 1,000 philanthropists and features some of the most popular restaurants, chefs, and beverage vendors in the Big Apple. In standing side by side with the American Cancer Society, Vinitaly International aims at playing its part in the battle against cancer.
